An update from Minsi Trails Council

During these uncertain times, Minsi Trails Council remains committed to the mission of Scouting. Please read below for current updates including the status of Summer Camp.

When do we expect to reopen?

  • As per the The Governor of Pennsylvania directive "shelter in place" for Lehigh County, the Minsi Trails Council Service Center and Scout Shop is currently closed until further notice and could remain closed up to Thursday April 30, 2020.

  • As always, the safety of our Scouts, their families and adult leaders is a top priority of the Minsi Trails Council. To that end, with a growing number of cases being reported, the Minsi Trails staff has been in contact with our Council Physician and continues to monitor the situation closely both here in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

  • Within our council territory, schools are closed, and non-essential businesses have been urged to cease normal operations to help mitigate the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).

  • The Minsi Trails Council is taking this action in accordance with local and state authorities as well as the Scout Oath and Law. The safety of our Scouting family is our highest priority.

  • The council is committed to continue business operations remotely so we can fulfill our mission.

Are we still going to open our summer camps?

The good news is that camp is three months away. Plans for normal summer camp operations remain in effect at this time. This includes Akelaland, Camp Trexler (Settlers Camp), Camp Minsi, and Day Camps. Our camp directors and staff are working to ensure that our Scouts will have a great summer camp experience.

We encourage units and families who have not yet registered to do so at www.minsitrails.org.

We are remaining optimistic and hopeful that the summer camp programming for our Scouts goes on as planned!

Payment Deadline- In order to help our families during these difficult times, we have adjusted the payment schedule.

A payment of $100.00 is due per registrant on June 1st. The final payment balance deadline has been extended to two weeks prior to the week your unit attends camp. It is our hope that this will allow some flexibility for those experiencing a burden at this time. This deadline will be vital to providing a safe, quality and enjoyable summer camp experience.

  • Week 1 (6/21-27) due June 12
  • Week 2 (6/28-7/4) due June 19
  • Week 3 (7/5-7/11) due June 26
  • Week 4 (7/12-7/18) due July 3
  • Week 5 (7/19-7/25) due July 10
  • Week 6 (7/26-8/1) due July 17

Refunds

For 2020 summer camps, all camper fees will be fully refundable if we are not able to operate camp due to COVID-19 health and safety concerns. Beyond this, the standard refund polices for our camp programs remain in effect at this time.

CAMPERSHIPS: The deadline of April 1 for campership applications is being extended to April 15.
