Enthusiastic Leaders Wanted!

Each summer, Akelaland is made possible through a staff of about 30 paid employees and and additional crew of Counselors in Training (CITs).  To be a paid staff at Akelaland, you must be at least 15.  Limited opportunities for paid employment are available every year at Akelaland.  Background checks are required for all over 18 staff, and training is required, including first aid and CPR.  Most paid staff spend seven to nine weeks at camp for the summer.  Most staff are housed in tents within our staff site.  You can download the staff application here.  If a position becomes available, you will be contacted for an interview.  Returning staff should contact the camp director directly.

Most of our paid staff start as a CIT.  CIT's are typically not quite yet 15, or are unable to spend more than a week or two at camp.  CIT's undergo training during their stay at camp.  Each CIT must receive a positive evaluation at the end of the week to return.  Many CIT's spend much of their summer at camp.  T
