Akelaland 2011

Your Responsibilities at Camp Include

1) Always have your Scouts travel in buddies.  Scouts who travel with a buddy rarely get lost or get into trouble!  The buddy system is a successful way to keep your Scouts safe!

2) Plan ahead for kids who only eat Peanut Butter and Jelly.  There will not be peanut butter in jelly in the dining hall this year.  If a child does not like the meal, there will be an alternative (such as a cheese sandwich).  Your unit might want to consider keeping their own peanut butter and jelly available for picky eaters in their site.  If you have Scouts with food allergies, please discuss the Scout's needs directly with our cook.

3) Make certain your Scouts get plenty of rest, drink lots of water, and that they make it to program areas on timeHave your Scouts carry a water bottle or canteen.  It helps cut down on our use of disposable cups.  Consider using your free time block for shower time or rest at the campsite as needed.

4) Your unit will need to help us maintain a clean camp.  A cleaning schedule will be provided to help ensure all showerhouses and latrines are cleaned at least once a day.  Feel free to help clean any other time you notice a problem.

5) Review emergency procedures with all of your fellow leaders.  You can access detailed emergency plans here.
