Akelaland Aquatics

Akelaland Aquatics

Our Aquatics program offers a wide variety of program options in two different locations.  Currently we offer swimming at both our pool and lake, paddleboats, rowboats, fishing, learn to swim instruction, and aquanaut.

The Baker Pool opened in 2009.  In includes a shallow section that features a zero entry beach, water sprayers and an underwater bench where leaders and cubs alike can relax!  All swim tests are completed in our pool.  We strongly encourage all Scouts who are beginners and non-swimmers to participate in learn to swim instruction.  Our pool was specially designed for helping non swimmers become comfortable with the water.

Lake Trexler has a swimming area, fishing areas, rowboats, paddleboats and a sandy beach to play in.  Lake Trexler is used by both our camp and Settlers Boy Scout Camp, but our Cub Scouts swim and boat from our own dock staffed by Cub Scout Camp Staff.

If your unit is interested in completing swim tests prior to your arrival at camp, you are encouraged to do so.  Whoever completes the test must be certified as a BSA Lifeguard or Red Cross lifeguard and must conduct the complete BSA swim test.  Do not color your tags prior to arrival, but just bring up a roster of the Scouts who completed the test with their results and the qualification and signature of the person completing the test.  If you'd like you may also use this form.
